Our tour starts off to Dalyan from your comfortable lodge in Ölüdeniz / Fethiye with a half hour bus ride. The bus takes us through breathtaking forests filled with pine and frankincense trees. From the scenic road route on the way to Dalyan, you can to catch a view of Sülüngür Lake.

Mud Bath

In Dalyan, we board boats that take us to our fist stop, where Dalyan and Köyceğiz Lake joins, for 10 minutes of information about Koycegiz Lake and its interesting history. After Köyceğiz Lake stop we take a short cruise to the Mud Bath (Peloid) by the lake. Among the other baths in the area, this mud bath is said to be the best, being the oldest and the most active one for thousands of years as way back as the Lycian era. There are several hot spring pools all of which smell sulphur heavily. The Peloid Mud Bath has amazing healing powers that actually cure ailments. Well, this you would find out because you sure will feel rejuvenated, your skin will feel and look smoother and it will definitely soothe you as you will literally shed toxins.

After our stop at the Mud Bath we take you to our restaurant, where there is an open buffet lunch provided for you, at the waterfront in front of the village. You get to make choices and taste of as many great sea foods since this is what Dalyan (meaning “fish farm”) is known for. From our visit to Kaunos, we sail down the river for another fascinating sight awaiting you on the Turtle Beach (Iztuzu Beach) in Dalyan. It is a marine turtle, namely Caretta caretta (i.e. loggerhead sea turtle), which is the world’s second largest hard-shelled turtle. Although evidence is lacking, it is believed to have existed and have been breeding in the area for about 40 million years. You would do well to get your cameras ready at this point because you just might have the chance to take some photos of this historic wonder.
